ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

N.C.E. REQUIREMENTS

Senior Secondary School Certificate of WAEC OR NECO or any other equivalent certificate from recongnized examination bodies with credit passes in four (4) subject including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. Two of the credits must be in the subjects making up the combinations the candidates wish to offer.

A Grade || Teacher's Certificate (TC ||) with credit or merit in four (4) subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer. Credits/Merit in English Language and Mathematics are required of candidates wishing to study computer.

A pass in pre-NCE final examination or a pass in IJMB final examination and a pass in JAMB is required for admmission.

All candidates wishing to be considered for directadmission must enroll for and write the selected examination organized by an accredited body such as JAMB.

It should be noted that some colleges may in addition to all the above, administer their own elimination tests and/or interviews for some course. This is legitimate.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

The entry requirements into the (4) years or (3) years programme in Computer Science education are as follows:

5 'O' level credit passes in NECO, SSCE, GCE, WASCE, TC II or NABTEB examinations at not more than two sittings or five merit/credit passes at Grade II Teacher's or NABTEB Examinations at not more than two sittings.

The credit passes should include English Language and Mathematics and any three of Biology/Agric. Science, Chemistry, Physics, Further Mathematics, and other relevant science and vocational subjects.

DIRECT ENTRY

Holders of Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) with specialization in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or any other relevant subjects from recognized College of Education or its equivalent and five ordinary level credit passes, including English language and Mathematics.

Two GCE (Advanced level) passes in science, National Diploma of any recognized institution or university Diploma or advanced certificate with five ordinary level credit passes at not more than two sittings, including English, Mathematics and any other three subjects in the sciences.

Acceptable points in JUPEB plus, in two relevant subject in addition to UTME requirements

MODE OF STUDY

The Bachelor of Science (Education) in Computer Science shall normally last for six and eight semesters for Direct Entry and UTME students respectively. However, a maximum of tweleve (12) semesters is allowed for UTME students and ten (10) semesters for Direct Entry students who have a spill over. Any student who spends more than the maximum number of semester will have his/her studentship determined.

DEGREE

To qualify for a degree in Unversity/College a candidate must satisfy the minimum requirements:

He/She must pass all the GNS courses

He/She must have been credited with a minimum of 120 units for UTME students and minimum of 90 units for Direct Entry students.

Traning

TEACHING PRACTICE

Every student is required to successfully complete the Teaching Practice, this is for a period of 12 weeks. The whole of 300 level first semester should be devoted to teaching pratice i.e. Staring from mid-Semptember to Decemeber.

This covers one term of the school year of 12 weeks. The credit earned is recorded under Eduction 311.

SIWES

A one-phase SIWES is a recommended: 8 weeks programme at the end of the second session coded CSC 224 (1 credit unit, Compulsory).

Projects

FINAL YEAR PROJECT

N.C.E

Every students is required to write and submit a project in Computer Science and the credit is recorded under EDU 323. All topics should reflect computer in education (Teaching and Learning). Project carries 2 credits units.

DEGREE

Before graduation, the student shall submit to the Department, a report in form of an original long essay which shall be supervised by a lecturer in the concerned department. This shall be graded and a score returned. The final year project report carries a total of 4 units.

Mandatory

MANDATORY TO ALL STUDENTS

It is mandatory for all students in Computer Science Department to come-in with their Laptop.
